Things to do

Delhi is all about exploring the hidden nook and corners of this intricately designed city. Visit the lal quila, as it stands valiantly above the rest of the city. An evening sound and light show recreates events in India and the
history connected with it. Delhi has amazing gardens: talkatora gardens- an interesting landscape with a bowl shaped topography. The lodhi gardens are well planned and rich in heritage. Enjoy the treasure trove: connaught place and janpath, abundant in ethnic wears, kolhapuri chappals and rajasthani paintings. If you are a shopping freak then delhi is the place to be. Delhi is a city with the largest heart on the planet. It is a city which lives life to the fullest and wants good food and excellent wine.
Delhi has an exciting night life with the music throbbing in the discotheques, and the young crowd dancing the night away. Djinns and shalom, are places pulsating with the life of the young in Delhi.
Delhi is a cosmopolitan place, rather a mini India. So all festivals are celebrated with immense zest and fever. Lohri is celebrated in January and entails merry making and dancing.

History

Delhi has witnessed one of the most vibrant histories ever written. A history which encompasses the tenure of various kings. Down the ages, Delhi has been identified with power and imperial sway. The myth was that whoever would find a new city at Delhi, would eventually lose it- this stands true for most recently the Britons too who found New Delhi in 1911.
In 1857, Delhi was the focal point for the first war of independence, since then Delhi became a thorn in the eyes of the british, and they shifted their capital from Calcutta to Delhi. Even for the freedom struggle, the political leaders propagated the slogan-' Delhi chalo'

How to get there

Delhi is connected via air to all destinations within India and outside- the domestic airport is at Palam: 5 kms. from the Indira Gandhi International terminal. Delhi is connected by rail to destinations too. Delhi can be visited by road too, with the Grand Trunk road being used the most often.
