Visit the kailasagiri – a charming hill on the seafront offering

climate of the aaraku valley and visit the borra caves which attained
historical and religious importance. Visit
‘bhimili’, a small town which has remains of a Portuguese
church and cemetery. Vizag has some impressive sandalwood
handicrafts to offer. Vizag has a submarine museum and a naval
museum which displays pictures and models from Indian naval history.
Another exotic beach is the ‘yarada’
beach, it is a private each and you need to pay 10 rs. but it’s
worth it. |

Festivals-
The annual tourism event, the 'Vishakha
Utsav' is held in Vishakhapatnam for three days from the third
Friday to Sunday in the month of January. Besides this,
Christmas is also celebrated with zeal and warmth throughout vizag. |

History
The history was originally named after the God of ?valor-Visakha.
It was part of Kalinga kingdom, under ashoka’s rule in 260 B.C.
In the 15th century, Vishakapatnam
became a part of the Vijayanagar
empire. The Europeans, the Dutch, the French and the English established
themselves from the 17th century onwards and used this as a major trading
center. |

How to get there
Vizag is connected by air to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai - the nearest
airport is Vijaywada.
Visakhapatnam is also connected by rail to kolkata and Chennai, Bangalore,
Hyderabad. |
