Etihad Airlines is the national flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates and wholly owned by the government of Abu Dhabi. Etihad Airlines is headquartered in Abu Dhabi and flies to 34 locations around the world. Etihad is Arabic for "united" and is a symbol for bonding among the seven Emirates that constitute the UAE. Etihad Airlines History
Etihad Airlines was established in July 2003 by a Royal decree issued by Sheikh Khalifa, then the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and the Supreme Commander of the UAE armed services. Etihad Airlines was formed with the dual objectives of creating an airline that would bear the UAE flag and extend true Arabic hospitality to their guests. The airlines started its commercial operations in November 2003 with the launch of its flights to Beirut and grew at a phenomenal pace thereafter, adding one route each month and is still in its expansion process till date.
Etihad Airlines Fleet
Being of the freshest Airlines in operation, Etihad Airlines has one of the most modern fleets in the world. Its fleet consists of Airbus A330-200s, A340-300s, A340-500s and Boeing 767-300s and 777-300ERs.These planes represent the ultimate in twin-jet performance, overall efficiency, increased cabin space and increased flying range.
