Short description: The City with stark contrasts

The magic of the reel world and the real world combine in this beautiful city. The land of Bollywood , India 's answer to the west. Mumbai is known the world over for its tinsel town. On the other hand there are innumerable stories of ordinary people making it big in this land of opportunity. It is said about Mumbai that if you dare to dream "BIG" then chances are that you might just make it.

Apart from the glitz and glamour of the film industry, Mumbai is the commercial and financial capital of India and the real estate in the city is one of most expensive in the country. The stately mansions and their colonial architecture is contrasted with the poor and the hapless on the streets. So Discover Mumbai, a heady mix of all this and more.

    Trivia:

There are many schools of thought on how Bombay got its name. One of them says, that it is named after the stone goddess of the Kolis (the original inhabitants of the city), Mumbadevi. The second school of thought says that the name is derived from the Portuguese word Bom-Bahia meaning Good Bay.
