How To Get There?By Air - Raja Sansi International Airport offers a number of domestic as well international connections. The airport is at a distance of about 11 kms from the city centre. Regular flights connect Delhi (1 hour away), Srinagar, Chandigarh to Amritsar. The international connections offered at Amritsar include the Jet Airways service to London, Air India to Toronto via Birmingham, Singapore Airlines to Singapore among many others. Pre-booked taxis, rental cars and autorickshaws are readily available to transport passengers from the airport to the city centre. By Rail - Amritsar has rail links with most of the major cities in India. Trains ply between Amritsar and Delhi, Mumbai, Jammu, Kolkata, Puri among other destinations. A journey on the Swarn Shatabdi is a good way to travel from Delhi to Amritsar. The journey takes about 5 hours and costs about Rs. 600 for a chair car seat. The Samjhauta Express, which runs twice a week between Amritsar and Lahore in Pakistan is a great option if you plan on a trip across the border. By Road - Amritsar is well connected with most of the cities in North India. Delhi is about 7 hours away by road at a distance of 450 kms. Pathankhot is 2.5 hours away from Amritsar. Chandigarh (235 kms), Jammu (219 kms), Shimla (322 kms) are all within 5 hours of driving distance from Amritsar. Daily regular as well as deluxe buses connect Delhi, Jammu, Katra, Chandigarh, Dharamshala to Amritsar.
