Air Deccan now christened as Simplifly Deccan has been one of the most persistent low cost Airlines in India . Air Deccan is the largest low cost carrier in India and continues to grow along with the market. From the very beginning, Airdeccan has set very high standards for itself in bringing air travel within the reach of the majority of Indians and to this end Air Deccan has remained seriously committed.
Air Deccan has released many special fares ticket including Rs.0 fare tickets which only charge the passenger for the taxes and surcharges levied on each ticket, another first of its kind move has been to announce that Air Deccan will stop levying fuel surcharge on its passengers once AirDeccan breaks even i.e. the point where the total income becomes equal to its total cost which will benefit passengers across the country as the other competitors will have to cut costs further to follow the cue of Air Deccan (Simplifly Deccan).
Air Deccan i s the first low cost carrier in India and a few other airlines have come up since then which are competing in the same segment of the market. The list includes other airliners like Spicejet and Indigo. Airdeccan operates its flights on a completely no frills policy and the passengers have to pay for the food which they can order from the menu provided to them by the Cabin crew. From time to time they run shopping campaigns as well onboard Air Deccan flights .
Air Deccan has the central base situated at the HAL international airport, Bangalore and has a hub at International Airport , Chennai. Recently Air Deccan has faced some performance related problems as many of AirDeccan flights started getting delayed or cancelled which resulted in loss in terms of brand value. Another important development has been the investments made by UB group which is the parent company of Kingfisher Airlines led by Dr.Vijay Mallya. With much of the Indian domestic aviation market still under-explored Air Deccan has tremendous scope to grow into a much larger entity in the future.
