About Air India Airlines

Air India or "the Maharaja" was started long back in the Year 1932, back then it was known as Tata Airlines and was a private enterprise. The first flight of Air India flew from Karachi Aerodrome to Mumbai, the plane was a De Havilland Puss Moth flown by JRD Tata; it was later renamed as Air India . Later on after the government after the nationalization of Airlines in India took over the control of Air India , and it became the national flag carrier of India . Since then it has witnessed tremendous growth although there have been some lows as well.

Air India 's flights fly to almost all over the world with plans to include many new destinations in the coming year with the delivery of the long haul and ultra long haul Boeings to its fleet. The diversity of Air India 's destination diversity is something to marvel at as Air India's Flights cater to destinations in South Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, North America, East Asia and Oceania .

The Maharaja has been its logo for a long time now which ads to the royal flavor of this National carrier. Its planes are decorated with unique window decoration which resembles the window design of palaces in India giving it the name of 'the flying palace'.

Recently there have been plans of a merger between Air India and Indian Airlines which will give the joint firm a massive fleet of 130+ which is definitely going to increase the frequencies of Air India 's flights . Air India also has a Subsidiary "Air India Express" which flies on select International Routes.

With the coming merger between the two flag carriers of India Air India can expect to soar high and its aggressive strategy is made clear by the fact that Air India has plans to apply for the Star Alliance which will be backed by Lufthansa, entering into this alliance will expand Air India's flight networks greatly. So Air India will be something to look out for not only on the Indian Aviation front but on the International front as well.
