Allahabad( formerly known as Prayag), Allahabad is a city of major historical, political, religious importance- Allahabad has been the literary centre for many writers and poets who were based there and drew their inspiration from the city itself. Allahabad also hosts the Mahakumbh Mela every 12 years. Allahabad is also known as Sangam (the confluence)- the meeting point of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati which renders the city holy.
