The community in Hyderabad is a mix of Hindu and Muslims. In accordance with that all the important festivals based on the religious beliefs of the two communities is celebrated here in Hyderabad .
The important Hindu festivals include Pongal or the harvest festival, Shivaratri, Ugadi, or the Telugu New Year celebrated in April - May, Diwali among many others. Eid, Milad-un-Nabi, Moharrum are among the important Muslim festivals.
Fairs and Other Events
Apart from the religious festivals, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Board organizes fairs and festivals each year. These are aimed at increasing the tourism into the state.
Deccan Festival held in February each year. It features Hyderabad 's arts, crafts and cuisine. One of the main attractions each year is the Pearls and Bangles Fair and a Food Fair.
Lumbini Festival held in December each year, the celebrations are spread over three days. The festival celebrates the Buddhist heritage of Hyderabad .
