Motorbikes are a novel way to explore Ladakh
Public buses are one of the ways to explore Ladakh. Buses run from Leh to the surrounding areas. Bus travel is cheap though the buses are overcrowded and fairly disorganized. Daily buses ply to Alchi, Basgo, Likir, Nimmu. Hourly buses run to Choglamsar, Shey, Phyang.
Hiring a taxi or a cab to take you to different places is a better way to explore Ladakh. Taxi fares can be pretty steep compared to the rest of India but they offer convenience and a comfortable travel.
Looking for a little adventure then hop onto a truck. Trucks often stop to pick up hitchhikers and one is expected to pay half of the bus fare.
Motorbikes can be hired from different shops in Ladakh. It is a great way to explore the rugged mountainous terrain on a Royal Enfield. This is often cheaper than hiring a taxi and offers you the flexibility to break the journey when and where you desire.
Only recognized travel agencies have permits to take tourists to certain places in Ladakh. Places included in this list are Changthang and Dha-Hanu.
