By Rail - The nearest railhead is at Jammu , located at a distance of 300 kms from Srinagar . Jammu is connected via train to Delhi , Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
By Road - You can choose to drive into Srinagar as well. Srinagar is connected via road with Delhi (900 kms), Chandigarh (630 kms) and Jammu (300 kms). Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation operates buses between Jammu and Srinagar as well. The journey is covered in about 12 hours and costs about Rs. 260 per person. An SUV can also be hired from Jammu to travel by road into Srinagar. These can cost anywhere between Rs. 1900 - 2700. Travelling by taxi from Jammu to Srinagar can cost upto Rs. 2500.
